Well, it’s late 2024, Slap Fighting is a thing, Dana White’s Contender Series is on fire, shaping the roster more than ever before and now… we might be looking at an actual boxing organization led by the man himself.
So if you haven’t seen the Dana White interview yet after his first proper foyer into producing a boxing card in Ireland over last weekend, you may want to. Either way, we are going to take a quick look at what is on the horizon for 2025.
Dana White Contender Series Predictions
When DWCS first debuted, it kind of felt like a reworking of the Dana White’s Looking for a Fight Youtube series on the surface – at least to some fans. I didn’t see it making a massive difference personally. I can’t even remember any fighters from looking for a fight who are on the UFC roster.
The Contender Series on the other hand, well, it is a different animal – we would likely never even know “The Sugar Show” without it.
As far as the Dana White Contender Series predictions for last weekend, we saw an 8-1 underdog, Danylo Voievodkin, absolutely dominate a highly touted Bailey Schoenfelder in under two minutes.
The unpredictable nature of the show alone makes it worth it. Having one fight that could literally change your life forever brings out the best and worst in people. In a recent episode White had a contestant quit while getting his hands wrapped, I guess he couldn’t handle the pressure.
White just keeps historically fighting uphill battles and not only winning, but making the rules and changing the game on the way, creating a better product than anyone has seen on a consistent basis in fight sports… Now he turns his sights to boxing.
Zuffa Boxing – Where Did it End Up?
In 2017, White and the Fretita Brothers had announced they would take on the boxing world and for whatever reason, it just never came to fruition. This left the idea in the lurch and many fans wondering if there was ever going to be another run at it from the prolific promoters who took a fledgling sport on the brink of extinction and turned it into the fastest growing sport on earth.
With so many convoluted championship belts and weight classes, how would they clean up and streamline the mess?
Well, many peoples questions were put to bed when Dana held his first boxing card in Ireland over the last weekend. A test it would seem and it would appear it went well enough for the big man to take it a step further. But like many Dana White interviews, there was a lot of empty space in his comments to leave fans with more questions than answers.
Dana White Press Conference Takeaways
In many ways the DWCS post fight presser was your A-typical Dana White press conference. He praised those who were able to finish opponents in decisive fashion, ones that came to fight and underdogs who turned out to be top dogs. The usual we have seen for years.
But the attention shifted to the future of White and his interest in finally taking on the boxing world. Questions about why Conor McGregor wasn’t there ringside in Ireland to support but was the next night to watch Anthony Joshua take a hard loss.
Will there be stars and who would they be? Of course White was quick to point out that every sport needs stars, but didn’t give a clue as to who, if any, he has his eye on. How will he set himself apart from the currently existing, convoluted and corruption ridden world that is boxing?
Are we looking at something run like the UFC? Fighters under contracts unable to fight outside the promotion? What will be the catalyst for viewership? Obviously for the UFC it was the genius move to self fund The Ultimate Fighter tv series on Spike.
That series not only took two of the best fighters on earth in Chuck Liddell and Randy Couture and catapulted them into the stratosphere, making them household names. It also showcased one of the best fights in the history of the UFC with Forest Griffin taking on Stephan Bonner in an all out war.
So what will White do to make his promotion different? That is yet to be seen, but we know one thing for sure in the words of the man himself, he’s coming in guns blazing in 2025.
